i finished my january socks right around the beggining of february (since i started them in january... it doesn't count when i finish them).
pattern: standard sock pattern, from my head (16 st/needle) yarn: lana grossa meillenweit needle: size 1, aero (set of 5) cost: 15$
they are soft and comfy... but surprisingly loose around the top. i'm thinking they will snug up a bit after a wash and dry.
if you look really closely in the first picture, you can see both of my cats sleeping away... on the left of the couch (the black blob) is my boy 'dawg' and on the right is my little girl soso.
i'm itching to start my february socks, but i have a couple of other projects i need to get finished first. i am going to knit shedir for my husband's best friend's mother. i also have a baby sweater to finish - and since it's size 0-3 and the baby is almost at 0... well, i best get going.
Our local radio station recieved a call about a 7 year old boy named Shane who a wish. He has been at CHEO for the last year fighting leukemia and does not know when he'll be able to leave. His next birthday is May 30, 2007 and he wants to break a world record - to have the MOST GREETING CARDS sent to him for his birthday.
Ask your children to tell their schools - they can make cards in craft classes; or at birthday parties. Get the buzz going around your office.
Cards can be mailed to Shane, C/O Kiss FM, 2001 Thurston Drive, Ottawa K1G 6C9; or dropped off at KISS FM. If your group makes cards - you can send them all in one envelope or in a box, instead of paying individual postage.
.... and it doesn't hurt the untroubled spirit either.
so far i've reorganized my kitchen to make it more efficient... and now my craft room is evolving slowly into something useful and practical. wow, who knew i could do it?
i'm also hammering away on a shop at etsy.com, and making some things to list and sell there. wow, one of the items on my list of dreams may come true - wanting to sell things i've made with my own hands. i'm also so lucky to have creative friends. in return for a scarf which i have been diligently procrastinating on... i will get a custom avatar for my etsy shop. woot woot!
things are chugging along well....
i'll post my etsy shop name and all once it is presentable. i'm so excited!
i'm going to bed now... so that i can wake up freshfaced and clean up the dining room and living room (where the rest of the kitchen has spilled out any unwanted items).
sunday night on our way home from exeter, we were able to stop and see little leelee - who is staying in selby (it's right by famous napanee*).
leelee is on her way to peru and is leaving december 13th... i knit her socks and mittens, and as you can see, she is terribly thrilled:
i knit the mittens from a recycled wool sweater... the socks are sock yarn (yum!) because i've knit so many socks, i realized that i knew exactly what to do for mittens... and hence these are the first project i have made without a pattern... i am ridiculously proud of myself. oh, just look out now!
little leelee is doing good... it was a short visit, but the whole family should be heading down to see her in about 2 weeks. i think all parties involved are really looking forward to it.
*yes, ladies and gentlemen.... napanee is the home of the one and only avril lavigne pizza!
